 Jerry Minor, along with his wife Thiry started the business out of their home garage in January 1973. Jerry has been an manufacturing engineer for 10 years but his main interests were people and cars. The business grew and they purchased a building on Railroad Drive next to the lumber yard in Elk River in August 1973. The business continued to grow and in 1976 moved to the present location on Highway 10.
Jerry and Thiry's three children grew up and helped in the business. Today, Eric Newlin their son-in-law is General Manager. They sell almost all late model cars that have low miles, are still in factory warranty, and offer low interest financing. Jerry and Eric feel the biggest challange is finding the right vehicle. They take a personal interest in every vehicle they purchase and sell. They have a advantage over larger dealerships by not having to sell a certain "brand". With the internet today people come from hundereds of miles away for the right vehicle. They even have sold some of their vehilces to Europe!! About 75% of the business each month are customers that have purchased vehicles previously. Jerry and Eric are extremely greatful to these repeat customers and the new ones they encounter every day.
Jerry, Thiry, and Eric say the best part of the car business is the people we meet! Buying a car is an exciting event for most people, they bring the whole family. Jerry's of Elk River documents each and every car sale with a picture of the new owner with their new vehicle. They have many albums with up to three generations from the same family. Jerry's of Elk River has had many sucessful and challenging times in the past 36 years and look forward to many more years of selling cars and making friends in the business.
