Jerry and Thiry Minor started Jerry’s of Elk River in January of 1973 out of their home and garage. In August of 1973 they moved into a building on Railroad Drive next to the Lumber Yard in Elk River. Three years later the business moved out onto Hwy 10, where it is currently located.
Jerry Minor was a manufacturing engineer for 10 years before starting his business. Cars were always his hobby and passion. He was able to take something he loved doing and turn it into his own business.
Jerry’s of Elk River has always been a family business. Over the years all three of Jerry and Thiry’s children have worked at the business. Today, their daughter Laurie is the office manager and Eric, their son-in-law is the General Manager.
Jerry, Thiry, Eric, and Laurie feel the best part about the car business is the people they meet. Buying a car is an exciting experience for most people. They document every sale with a picture of the new owner and their new vehicle. Jerry’s of Elk River has photo albums with up to 3 generations of the same family!
“We know and understand that purchasing a used car can be a scary experience. Used car dealers have a negative stereotype. We are not your typical used car dealer. We are a family running a business and doing something that we LOVE! We treasure every person we meet and each conversation we have. We are small enough to build relationships with our customers and help them in any way we can. We consider our customers our friends!”
